Art Therapy Student

Alyssa Kurland

Hi, I’m Alyssa!

I am an Art Therapy student currently working towards a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts at Endicott College. My love of art stems from a childhood driven by imagination and creativity. Back then my materials consisted of leaves, toys, craft materials, and whatever else I could find. Currently, I enjoy working with a variety of media including oil paint, ceramics, textiles, charcoal, and pen and ink.

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a type of psychotherapy that uses the creative process as a form of healing. It allows a way to access internal thoughts and emotions that is different from conventional talk therapy. Art Therapy provides a safe space for clients to express and gain perspective on both internal and life experiences.

Why I Chose Art Therapy

I chose Art Therapy because it allowed me to use what I am passionate about to help others. When exploring potential career paths, I was torn between my love of visual art, and my interest in psychology and biology. This field enables me to combine my passions, interests, and aspirations into my reality. Through Art Therapy I am able to dive into my own world and process it creatively, a process I intend to guide others through upon the completion of my education.
